My name is Aaron Zaner and I am running for re-election for LVL Board of Directors.
My wife Lora, daughters Lexi and Jessie and I, have been coming to LVL for the past 14 years. We usually camp starting in April through the first week of November and then we realized about 9 years ago, that LVL is a great place to spend New Year’s break as well. We have promoted the New Years Eve party for many years and have seen an increase in participation each year.
In my past 14 years of being an owner in LVL, I have had the pleasure of serving 4 terms (8 years) as a LVL board member. I have worked closely with other board members, LVL management and Mid-America Resorts, to help make positive changes for the resort, all while keeping this a great place to spend time at.
During our past 14 years we have seen many changes with LVL and have had many great times with family, friends and new friends that we make every year from all over the country.
I believe a board member’s position goes way beyond just attending a few meetings. They should be able to listen to our fellow owners, hear about their great experiences or their concerns and express those to other board members, LVL management and/or Mid America Resorts management for consideration or to resolve.
I would like to continue to have an open dialog between management, the LVL board and all LVL owners and I believe that we are all striving towards this outcome. This will help to build a long lasting trust between all parties.
In closing, I would like for you to consider voting me back on to the board, so that I can help continue to make sure that LVL is a great family resort with many options for everyone to enjoy and be your voice, should you need me to be.
My name is Scott Maddox. Let me start by telling you guys a little about myself and my family. I have been a owner of lost valley lake for 10 years and prior to becoming an owner my wife and I would come down here as associates of my in-laws. My wife and I actually had our honeymoon here 18 years ago and have been coming ever since. We have been bringing our two daughters down here since birth. The oldest is 17 years old now and the youngest is 10. They have loved every minute of the lake.
I retired from being a store manager of many Rent a Centers. My career with RAC lasted well over 25+ years. I have experience in listening and solving a lot of concerns, making profits that benefit the company or organizations, customer service, and managing multiple employees at one time. I would love to use some of this experience to help build lost valley back up to the place every family wanted to be a part of.
Our family has seen many changes here over the years. Some for the good and some that we, and a lot of others will not understand why. This is the reason I am trying to run for the board. I want to understand some of the reasons behind the changes as well as hopefully make some changes that will benefit the resort and the owners. If elected to the board I will promise to do my best to listen to the owners and take all their concerns and suggestions to the other members so we can bring lost valley back up to the standards of what it once was.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I do hope that you will put a vote in for me to be one of the three new board members.
Hello LVL Family,
I am respectfully requesting your consideration for re-election to a seat on the Lost Valley Lake Board of Directors. I am just completing my first term on Board and know many of you. For those of you that don’t know me I’ll share a bit about my LVL experience and a desire to continue serving on the BOD. I have been enjoying Lost Valley for over 20 years. First as a guest of family members, then quickly as an owner. Both my children grew up at the resort enjoying planned and unplanned activities. They learned to fish, kayak on the lake, build campfires, play bingo, basketball, tennis, etc. We have made lasting memories and friends as we enjoyed family activities, including countless fishing tournaments, mud-mania weekends, and trail rides. My grandson is now enjoying some of the same activities. In the past several years, my parents and my parents-in-law have also become owners and love the resort. I am committed to doing whatever I can to ensure that Lost Valley is a place the whole family can enjoy for many years. One of the things I can do is serve my fellow owners as a member of the Board of Directors.
I believe I bring a good blend of business experience and the personal perspective of a long-time LVL owner. I currently work for a large utility in Missouri running their damage prevention and joint pole use departments. I also sit on the Board of Directors of Missouri One Call as part of the Executive Committee. My professional background also includes working for Radisson Hotels, and working in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster and an agent. Throughout my career I have been challenged to provide an excellent customer experience while operating within a fiscally tight budget. I see this as the challenge facing Lost Valley Lake right now and going forward.
My husband works full time in the RV industry and served as a United States Marine. I have two adult sons and an 8-year-old grandson. We live in South St. Louis County with our three rescue dogs. We consider Lost Valley our second home and camp 2-3 weekends per month from March – November. We also travel across the country in our 5th wheel visiting National Parks, State Parks, and commercial campgrounds whenever we can. We have had enough experiences outside of LVL to both appreciate what we have and recognize that there are some improvements to be made.
In the past 20 years, I've seen many changes at LVL. I know that there are people who have not been having a great experience and are not enjoying their ownership the way we do. I will admit that as much as I love LVL, I have seen the resort in better physical shape and experienced less conflict between owners and staff in the past. If you choose to elect me to the Board, I commit to representing you, my fellow owners, as well as bring a business perspective that I believe is needed as we try to improve our resort, attract and maintain awesome staff, and keep the cost to our owners in line.
I would be honored to represent the families of owners here at Lost Valley Lake and respectfully ask for your vote in the upcoming election. Thank you for your consideration.
My name is Jacquelyn Price and I am a long time member of LVL. I am retired from the federal judiciary where I was a courtroom clerk for three judges in Jefferson City for over 30 years. My husband Jim and I owned our own retail business for over 20 years and have experience in property management and daily operations.
My parents became members of LVL in August of 1983 when LVL was just beginning. In 2006, my husband and I purchased the deed from my parents and became the primary owners. We, along with our two daughters, have been camping at Lost Valley Lake for 39 years. For the last 14 years, our grandchildren have grown up enjoying the amenities and experiences our girls did.
This year I decided I wanted to become more active in the operation of LVL. I am running for the board because not only do I have concerns and questions about how things are decided, I want to assist other owners in conveying their opinions and questions to management and the board.
My goal is like that of the other candidates - let’s keep LVL a great place to bring our families.
My name is Sherri Durbin, I’ve been the General Manager overseeing operations of Mid America Resorts and Lost Valley Lake Resort for the past 2-1/2 years. I started with MAR in 2015 as the Marketing Director, prior to MAR/LVL I had a 29 year background in Sales & Marketing Mgmt. with a Degree in Marketing. I’m a lifelong resident of the area, raised in Owensville, graduated from OHS, raised my family in and currently live in Rosebud. I am excited to be part of the amazing team we have at the resort, a team that cares and strives to make a positive difference for our owner’s.
As a fellow owner family, I spent much of my youth enjoying LVL. I have fond memories of great times spent with friends and family here. It’s been exciting to see the changes and growth of the resort over the years. The success of LVL and owner happiness is of the utmost importance to me not only as a member of upper management but as an owner and a local resident. It takes a strong team of listeners & doers to make this happen, I am committed to working hard daily and alongside my fellow Board members to carry on a successful business that provides a secure place of enjoyment for generations to come.
My name is Jackie Noel. I have been an owner at Lost Valley since 1999. I have decided to run for the Board of Directors because I would like to be part of the solution to issues we have at LVL.
As an owner for 20 plus years I believe it is my turn to help.
I am a retired science teacher. I was the department chair and led a team of 14 educators. I was responsible for developing and implementing budget and curriculum needs for 1,000 students.
I have been an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. I have held many positions; district and council wide. Two of my favorite activities for them has been fund raising and developing adult and youth leaders. I have been a director for both the National Youth Leadership Training and Wood Badge programs. These programs teach youth and adult leaders advanced leadership skills.
I recently completed my term as President of my Homeowners Association. I am proud that by working with a team of all new board members, we were able to change the reputation of the HOA to a much more positive, caring group of homeowners. We took a nearly financially bankrupt HOA to a financially sound, trusted organization.
I believe in doing my part. I am a strong team leader and communicator. I can work positively to address our member concerns and continue to work on communications.
